Art: Review painting of the month, create projects/crafts that surround that week's letter. Chalk drawings. The possibilities are endless!
Choosy Media:BBC Planet Earth, Signing, Gumby, Mr. Rogers, How It's Made. Only DVDs or streamed on computer through youtube/pbs.org
Foreign Language: Speak only German, German stories on CD, German story books, German shows per youtube, Sign Language: Signing Time with Alex and Leah, Use of signs throughout day
Gospel Principles: Through daily prayer, meal prayers, nightly scripture study, personal prayers, Family Home Evenings, temple trips, singing primary songs each morning, learning to repent including prayer, serving others as needs are seen
Healthy Food: fruits and veggies can taste awesome! Candy is only for very special occasions. Avoidance of food dyes, processed foods, added sugars, mostly homemade and real food. Lots of substitutions of foods for healthier ingredients.
Household Chores: clearing the table, cleaning up toys, helping with vacuuming, "making" beds (See fav. books for one by Boyack on this- superb!!)
Music Time: Singing to Piano, dancing to cd's/radio, composer of the week, exposure to wide range of styles
Organization: Child-sized things, marked bins/areas, expectations of cleaning up and taking care of items. Big Montessori influence.
Outdoor Play: Apt. Complex, local parks, local woods (See book: Last Child in the Woods)
Positive Praise & Validation with high expectations: smiles, hugs, high fives, stickers, proximity praise
Reading: Every morning after breakfast, every afternoon before nap. every night before bed. Identifying letters/sounds,and good character traits

Favorite Books to Read while Raising Kids (Mine and other people's)

Babywise (Helping kids learn to find a cycle of eating/burping, playing, then sleeping)-Sleep through night at 9 weeks. Booyeah!
Bright From the Start (lists age appropriate activities parents can do to help children naturally progress cognitively)
Honey for a Child's Heart (promotes reading "good" literature and has age-appropriate lists)
How to Raise an Emotionally Intelligent Child (How to become an emotion coach to your child, and navigate feelings in appropriate ways)
Last Child in the Woods (How discovering nature spawns creativity and well-being in children)
Magic 1,2,3: A book on disciplining kids.
The Parenting Breakthrough by Merrilee Boyack: Age appropriate jobs from 3-18. Systems for managing a household/family
What to Expect When You're Expecting (Is teeth grinding normal in a 9 mo. old?)
